A Chasing Mr. Darcy Review
I was nervous about the third installment in the Bromance Book Club series because I really loved Liv and Mack’s story…so the third book had a lot to live up to. I’m happy to say it not only met but exceeded my expectations!
Here’s a plot synopsis from Amazon: Alexis Carlisle and her cat café, ToeBeans, have shot to fame after she came forward as a victim of a celebrity chef’s sexual harassment. When a new customer approaches to confide in her, the last thing Alexis expects is for the woman to claim they’re sisters. Unsure what to do, Alexis turns to the only man she trusts—her best friend, Noah Logan. Computer genius Noah left his rebellious teenage hacker past behind to become a computer security expert. Now he only uses his old skills for the right cause. But Noah’s got a secret: He’s madly in love with Alexis. When she asks for his help, he wonders if the timing will ever be right to confess his crush. Noah’s pals in The Bromance Book Club are more than willing to share their beloved “manuals” to help him go from bud to boyfriend. But he must decide if telling the truth is worth risking the best friendship he’s ever had.
Crazy Stupid Bromance had everything I look for in a romance novel. There was steam, high quality steam IMO, laughs, love, and affection…but more than that, there’s a sincerity and an intimacy between Noah and Alexis that just can’t be replicated in another story. They are 100% there for each other, and I love that about them. Friends, lovers, or both, they always have each other’s back. These two characters are not only couple goals but also friendship goals. The pure longing the two feel for each other while working up the nerve to make a move was almost palpable, and I could not get enough of their chemistry.
Like the second BBC book, Crazy Stupid Bromance dealt with some pretty heavy topics, like parental abandonment and sexual assault aftermath. I thought Alexis came off as a pretty strong woman in this book with an incomparable capacity for forgiveness. I love that all her loss in life didn’t make her bitter, but instead gave her a great capacity for love. She truly overcame her demons in this story, and Noah did too. Neither MC was perfect, but they fit perfectly together. I felt like the struggles they went through were really organic and natural, and I could relate to both characters on so many levels. I love when I finish a book feeling like I’ve made friends for life, and I definitely count Noah and Alexis as friends.
If you haven’t checked out this series, what are you waiting for????
